Not everyone who needs to see your numbers should be able to change them. In this updated Budget Byte, Robert walks through how to set up user permissions in Kardin Portal, including read-only access that lets the right people view budgets without touching them.
Robert references these other Budget Bytes:
What a read-only user can do
A read-only user can log in to Kardin Portal and view budgets, property files, and reforecasts, but can't change any of them. It's the perfect fit for someone who isn't a budget preparer but still needs visibility, an owner, an executive, or a stakeholder who wants to stay in the loop.
Permissions down to the property and portfolio
Permissions aren't all-or-nothing. As an admin, you can grant full control, edit, create, or read access property by property, and extend those same permissions across portfolios. That means a contact at one ownership group sees only their properties, while a contact at another sees only theirs, siloed from each other while working in the same Portal.
See more without spending a license
Here's the part that's easy to miss: read-only users don't consume a license as long as they don't open a budget or reforecast file. They can still view portfolios, run quick reports, and explore the executive dashboard. It's a clean way to widen visibility across your team without widening your license count.
How to set it up
As an admin user, head to Company, select Users, and find the person you want to adjust. Click the three-dots icon, choose Permissions, and set their access for each property and portfolio. That's it.
This feature is available to admin users. If you think you should have access and don't, let us know and we'll work with your admin to get you set up.
